Oracle completed its initial public offering just one day before Microsoft in 1986. That kicked off decades of intense rivalry. When Microsoft engaged in anti-competitive tactics against browser pioneers like Netscape, we actively funded investigations into their enterprise practices. I have always relished direct competitive battles because a formidable rival pushes an organization to execute at its absolute highest operational standard.
