Q

What inspired your move from music into business?

Question 2 of 12
Jamie Stewart

After spending around ten years touring as a musician, I wanted to build something with long-term potential. Music also gave me enough flexibility to start businesses while continuing to perform.

0
Q

How did your music career help your entrepreneurial journey?

Question 3 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Performing on stage taught me confidence and presence. Those experiences made pitching to investors and speaking publicly far less intimidating because people respond to conviction more than perfection.

0
Q

How do you overcome fear when starting something new?

Question 4 of 12
Jamie Stewart

I focus only on taking the first step. Big goals become much less frightening once you've started moving, and momentum makes the next decisions easier.

0
Q

How did Binq begin?

Question 5 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Once we found the right AI infrastructure partner, we combined that technology with my commercial finance experience to create an AI-first platform for small businesses.

0
Q

What happened when your first product didn't work?

Question 6 of 12
Jamie Stewart

The first version wasn't successful, but because we had already committed to building it, we kept improving rather than giving up. Failure became part of the development process.

0
Q

Why do you value thinking time so highly?

Question 7 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Innovation doesn't come from constantly working. Some of the best business ideas appear when you're disconnected and giving yourself space to think creatively.

0
Q

How has travel influenced your leadership?

Question 8 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Travelling—especially where time differences forced me away from work—gave me clarity and produced many of my best business ideas and solutions.

0
Q

What business mistake taught you the most?

Question 9 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Trying too hard to save money. Being excessively focused on cutting costs often slowed progress and wasted valuable time.

0
Q

How has that lesson changed your current company?

Question 10 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Today I invest where it matters. That mindset has allowed us to achieve in months what previously took years.

0
Q

What role do mistakes play in entrepreneurship?

Question 11 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Mistakes are only valuable if you remember them and apply the lessons. Every setback becomes useful experience for future decisions.

0
Q

What advice would you give aspiring founders?

Question 12 of 12
Jamie Stewart

Take the first step, trust the process, and don't let fear prevent action. Most opportunities only become clear after you've started.
